The first Torbay Airshow is being planned to be held from 10th June to 12th June, at Paignton Green (Devon). The event expected to bring in 150,000 visitors is free of charge. A VIP launch will start-off the aerial display on the evening of 10th June, Friday.
Armed Forces Day falls on 11th June, Saturday, and a range of military displays plus a parade with veteran participating, will be held. On land, Paignton Green will have a large event village with fair rides, catering and entertainment. Planned to be an annual event, Torbay Airshow has got a leading consultant to book the air displays.
Part funding towards the airshow comes as a start-up grant from the Coastal Communities Fund. Rocket Fuel Media will generate other income by exhibition space and sale of sponsorship. A number of sponsors have been confirmed by now for the first Torbay Airshow.
Gordon Oliver, Mayor of Torbay, said the airshow promises to be a memorable free event and economic boost and is a family event they want here. Councillor Nicole Amil, executive head for tourism, culture and harbours, said their bay is a beautiful location on the coast, with facilities and as airshows are proving successful, it benefits both visitors and residents.
