Children’s car seats can be checked for free, by safety conscious parents in the new year thanks to the initiative of Enfield Council. The free sessions organised by the council aim to give a chance to parents to check whether they have fitted the right kind of seat and whether correctly installed for the safety of their children. Parents can also test a range of child car seats before buying the apt one for their child. The safety check sessions will begin from next year from February and continue up to October.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents has found in its research, that for every five child car seats, four are incorrectly fitted. Daniel Anderson responsible for the council’s environment portfolio said that this initiative will help ensure that parents are aware of correctly installing the child car seat. The council is commuted to reduce the number of deaths and critical injuries on roads and this initiative can help parents to keep their children safe in a car. While parents are busy at the session, children can enjoy face painting at the venue. The law states that while travelling in a car children below 135cm, or 4ft 5 inches height, have to use proper child seats
