The ‘Big Weekend’ will give lots of people living in Herts, the opportunity to visit for free some of the best attractions in the county in the new year. The ‘Big Weekend’ is scheduled for 12th and 13th March of next year and anybody aged 18 years or above living in Hertfordshire, will be allowed to apply, from 26th January, for 2 tickets to visit any of the attractions participating in the event. Some family tickets will also be available. The Family Holiday Association also will be allocated some tickets to be give to hard-up families for free days out.
So far, free tickets have been donated by attractions and that includes Hitchin Lavender, Knebworth House and Stotford Watermill. The joint project manager of Visit Hertz, David Curtis-Brignell, said there had been an enthusiastic response for the first ‘Big Weekend’ from local businesses. So far dozens have signed up and they hope more will soon follow, he added. He pointed out that the event is a great way to start the tourist season, as it is also to reignite excitement for the county, for its own people.
