Free lantern-making workshops at Cockermouth
Cockermouth’s annual parade, Cockermouth by Candlelight, is being organised this year by the Kirkgate Centre, on 11th December. As part of the celebrations, free workshops for making lanterns will be offered to families and children. The workshops will be held on 28th November and 6th December, both on Sundays, at the Kirkgate Centre. The workshops are free but a donations can be made for the materials. There is no need to book a place. Families are welcome and people can drop in any time and stay on.
The parade will start at 6:00pm from outside the United Reformed Church and move through the Main Street of Cockermouth, to end at the Market Place. Here, various activities like festive sing-along, snow globe will be held at Kirkgate Centre. The free workshop organiser and community engagement officer, Gilli Goodfellow, said they look forward to see people get creative to make lanterns inspired by the night sky, like moons, planets, snowflakes, and stars.
Free events at sharing festival in Frome
Frome is conducting the first sharing festival in the country. SHARE is running over the next couple of weeks offering lots of free events, workshops and talks. Share shop on the Bridge is offering on every Thursday craft activities that also includes a creative Christmas gifts session on 26 November, Thursday. On every Friday free and impartial advice on cutting costs will be offered, by energy experts. Other free events include cake baking, Indian cookery class, a surplus supper during Christmas Extravaganza, on 28th November. 29th November will see a free creative money printing session.
Resilience officer at Frome Town Council, Anna Francis, said as resources reduce and family budgets are cut, there is no other better time to share items and skills. It is heart-warming to see people share with each other items, skills, music, stories and time, she added. Free music events in London by Converse
A series of free music events will be hosted throughout London by Converse, from 4th to 6th December. Those who wish to attend will be required to register for the free tickets, for the individual events through the music website of Converse.
Dubbed as Converse Rubber Tracks London, the event series includes a total of 6 performances, panel discussions and workshops, over the 3 days, as announced by Converse. The shoe brand Converse has partnered NTS, the online radio station, to produce on 4th December, a live radio show and a party at One Good Deed, the east London venue. DJs of NTS will host it and the show includes performances by special guests, plus interviews.
Members of the public can choose from two events of 5th December . One is a 6-hour boat party on the Thames river. The other is a live show at the100 Club on Oxford Street. Both hosted events will get live broadcast on Boiler Room. On 6th December, 3 events will be hosted at the 100 Club, from 10:00am to 1:00pm.
