The launch of Liverpool city’s Snowflake Trail, will feature the unveiling of Britain’s largest snowflake, a mammoth 8-metre high illuminated snowflake sculpture, on 19th November, Thursday. As part of the magical extravaganza for Christmas, the big snowflake sculpture will be exhibited in William Square, opposite Liverpool Playhouse Theatre, with another 12 snowflakes.
The colourful creations, specially designed by artists from across the country, will be installed around the city centre, to be searched out. Everyone will be invited to search the snowflakes and solve the trail’s puzzle. In total 100,000 trail maps will be distributed and families get a chance to win a series of amazing prizes.
Liverpool’s biggest free festive event is devised by Liverpool BID Company. Its Chief Executive, Bill Addy, said that the event has been created to give visitors to the city centre a unique Christmas experience. A new story specially commissioned for the 6-week event, will be featured on a limited edition of the trail map. It is called The First Snowflake. Sitting next to the giant snowflake, will be a huge two and a half metre wide book, with first pages of the story, right on William square.
This free event, The Snowflake Trail, a key highlight of the city’s One Magical City campaign, will run until 3rd January (Sunday) of next year. A series of light and sound installations have been specially devise to create, in several of the city centre streets, swirling snowstorms.
