This month, the St. Mary le Tower Church in Tower Street at Ipswich, will host the recording of BBC’s flagship programme ‘Songs of Praise’. It will take place on 26th and 27th of November from 7pm to 10pm. On 18th November there will be a rehearsal for the recording at the church. The public are invited to participate and apply for free tickets for the event. The programme will be conducted by composer Noel Tredinnick. Twelve different hymns will be recorded at the shows. They would be later broadcast over the next few months across various shows on BBC.

Vicar of the church, Rev. Cannon Charles Jenkin, believes that the BBC decision to record here was influenced by the church’s strong music and concert programme. They are really looking forward to it and welcoming people to the church, he added. John Kirby, producer of ‘Songs of Praise’ said it is a pleasure to come to Ipswich and particularly so to work with composer Tredinnick. Free tickets can be applied for online at the website- bbc.co.uk/songsofpraise. Tuesay, 10th November is the last date for applications.
