An one-off event to commemorate the anniversaries of historic conflicts, will be celebrated in Norfolk on Thursday, 5th November. The finest of performing art talents from the county’s various drama, music and art groups will perform at Norwich Cathedral, starting at 7:00pm, in an interesting evening of entertainment.
The free event aims to commemorate special anniversaries of a number of conflicts, falling this year, celebrating the bravery of the armed forces. Anniversaries this year include the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War; the 100th anniversary of death of Edith Cavel, the Norfolk nurse; the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo; the 210th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar; and the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt. Organisers of the free event are hoping to attract hundreds of spectators. The theme for the display is courage.
The headmaster of The Norwich School, the independent day school, Steffan Griffiths, is behind the idea of the show. Contributors to the free event include the Norwich School Chapel Choir, the Total Ensemble Drama Group, Norfolk County Youth Orchestra and Choristers of Norwich Cathedral. A house-master at Norwich School, Andrew Curtis, pointed out that the free event gives people a chance to learn about each of the conflicts and also a chance to Norfolk’s young people to show their talents.
