Following other successful festival events, the Ilkley Arts Festival will bring together lectures, concerts and other events organised in the town, by many societies and clubs. The festival in the West Yorkshire town will run from 6th November to 20th December.
Seasonal choral music by Northern Youth and friends will be performed at the Ilkley Baptist Church. French themes, civic affairs, lectures on art history and recorded music are to be offered free to guests and non-members of organising societies. There are a number of free concerts too. A free organ recital will be held on 6th November, from 12:30pm to 1:15pm, at the St. Margaret’s Church.
The first two weeks of the festival this year will see two major events. On the 7th and 8th of November, P D Theatre Promotions will perform Mr. Darwin’s Tree, at the Clarke Foley Centre. On 12th November, Ilkley Soroptimists, at a free event at the Clarke Foley Centre, will present the Academy of the Royal Ballet from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Ballet Mistress Yuko Ichnio’s talented young dancers of the North will interact with all visitors. Andrew Lister, the artist, will host an exhibition of his work.
A concert by Ilkey and North Bradford Band Association, a performance of Hendel’s Messiah, Ikley Film Society’s screening of Ada, the film and free performances by Ilkey Players, are all included in the free event. Ilkey Visitor Information Centre at Ilkey Town Hall, has copies of the programme available.
