Black History Month hosting free events

To celebrate and mark the significance of Black History Month, the Anglia Ruskin University will be hosting free events on 24th October. This Sunday will see the hosting of 2 free events on the university’s Cambridge Campus. ‘A Charmed Life’ will be hosted from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. It portrays the time and life of Eddie Martin Noble, the Jamaican airman. His life influenced the classic ‘Small Island’, by Andrea Levy. The Cambridge Ethnic Community Forum has organised the event. The next free event is being put on in partnership with Cambridge City Council, with a performance by Realitie, the poet Josephine Rollins, who focuses on current issues like, identity, domestic violence, drugs, sexual health, mental health and others. (Call on 01223-457876 for more information). There are many other events going on around to celebrate and mark Black History Month around Cambridge.

The Community Engagement Officer, Miriam Berg, of the Anglia Ruskin University, said the university is happy to host the performances and both events focus on historical issues that has influenced the shaping of modern Britain.
