The Cumbernauld council has confirmed that the popular municipal firework display will take place on 4th November at the St. Maurices High School, this year. The free event will have the bonfire lit at 7:00pm and the fireworks display started at 7:30pm. The following evening will see the main celebration of the council, the Guy Fawkes day celebration, which is on 5th November. It will be held at Strathclyde Park in Motherwell.
The same day will see the European League match of Celtic against Molde, the Norwegian team. Glasgow council decided to switch the fireworks to the night before the match, for safety sake, as an estimated combined crowd of 100,000 was expected. So revellers coming in for the firework display on 5th November are being informed that the free event will break tradition for this year only, to accommodate the football fixture and so will take place a day earlier on 4th November.
