The first-ever Para Sport Event 2015 will be hosted in Great Britain, at the Moulton College, in Northamptonshire, as a free event on 25th October. The event aims to promote para-sports and introduce more people to it, giving them both the opportunity to find out and try out some for themselves. Attendees on the first day can have a go with a variety of para-sports, which includes archery, cycling, rowing, wheelchair basketball and sailing.
Great Britain’s equestrian rider Sophie Wells, who had a successful spell at Para-Equestrian Dressage European Championship, will be part of an equestrian demonstration. There’s also a display by riders within the competition structure of British Dressage and Riding for Disabled. Riders currently under training and competing will perform. Sophie Wells said lots of people don’t know how to get involved in disability sports and this event gives the opportunity to try different sports, allows that flexibility of variety, which is why an event like this is important.
Project Manager for National Paralympic Day, Sarah Chambers, praised the initiative to bring para-sports to more people. Sarah of the British Paralympic Association, said the National Pralympic Day gives people opportunity and for all ages to show support.
