Free events on occult history of Elgin marks Halloween

A series of free events exploring the supernatural history of Moray, marks this Halloween in Elgin. Supernatural experts will give a tour of Elgin, focusing on its famous haunts and ghoulish history. Recorded instances of the occult, during 17th century, around the region and portrayal of witches found in fiction, will feature in the talks. Events in Elgin get off to a start on 30th October at the Youth Cafe. Stuart Mackenzie will present a talk, commencing at 7:30pm, on the fictional representation of witches over the centuries. On 31st October, at the Ink Well of Elgin Youth Cafe, from 6:30pm, he will talk on the dark past of Moray, as a hotbed of paranormal activity, about witch-hunt, healers and the first incident recorded in 1604.

On Halloween night, the Halloween Ghost Tour of Elgin will commence at 8:00pm, starting off at Elgin Museum the trail will go through the heart of the town, to learn of the supernatural instances of those areas in the past. This is part of the Castle to Cathedral to Cashmere project in Elgin. It is organised to link the Scottish town’s historical highlights on a route. The series of free events is to celebrate Elgin’s hoary past and explore its history of ghosts and witches on Halloween night, remarked Jim Royan, group chairman.
