This year the Carholme gala, or what is called WestFest now, is a free event that will be taking place this weekend, on 27th September, Sunday, at the Grandstand grounds which is on Carholme Road, Lincoln, from 12noon to 4:00pm.
Hundreds of people are expected to crowd here during the gala festival. The event will see Paul Gibbard’s band with Riki Bell DJ along. Children can enjoy pony rides and free bouncy castles, with the Party Workshops presenting family circus fun. A little history will be added to the event by the Anglo-Norman historical re-enactment society. School children of schools from Carholme will give musical performances. The University of Lincoln’s Student’s Union will present musical-theatre and sporting fun.
Ward member for Carholme, councillor Karen, Lee, who is on the City of Lincoln Council, said there is a diverse population in the west end of the city and the event encourages people to celebrate as one and get to know each other. There is something for all in the family to join in the fun, he added. To get more details on the free event, call on phone- 01522-546065, or email to karenlee@lincoln.gov.uk.
