Plymouth’s Union Street is going to be a hub of activity, as hundreds of people are expected to gather here for the annual Street Party. It will be hosted between 12noon and 4.00pm, on 27th September (Sunday), in its fifth year now. The free event is a celebration of good food, arts and crafts workshops and also entertainment.
The weekend will see the street filled with bunting, music, food and lots more. The annual event run by the Stonehouse Action, which is volunteer group promoting cooperation and unity in the community, is free and fun, welcoming people to join in the party. They are also the team behind the transformation of the old shop Union Corner. Chairperson of Stonehouse Action, Wendy Hart, said they have lots of performers, acoustic sets and exciting bands, for people to dance. They have organised the street party with 8 volunteer committee members helping out and with money got from local councillors, Ian Tuffin and Sue McDonald, she said about the free event.
