The Crack Theatre Festival, free festival coming to Newcastle
The Crack Theatre Festival is presented as an independent arts festival in Newcastle, scheduled in October and running from the 1st to the 4th of that month. The free event, the 9th annual Crack Theatre Festival, will have a range of performances from Australia. They event included visual arts, circus, dance, drama, comedy and many more.
The event This Is Not Art (TiNA) will host Crack Theatre Festival, where it is a chance to present innovative works of emerging and established artists too. It’s hosted free for all audiences at non-traditional theatre spaces. A strong representation of what is trending nationally and some 50 artists will be offering 29 works of theirs. This year includes diverse mix of performers experimenting with new ideas, or testing of original material and touring collaborative works.
The festival promotes free-to-participate workshops for professional development, art community building, talks and master-classes. Also being launched this year is th 24-Hour Generator, a program felicitated by theatre-maker Chis Ryan, as an intensive theatre-making exercise for participants. Highlights include Jane Howard, a culture writer, facilitating a forum. The event’s Co-Artistic Director, Finn O’Branagain, said the free festival has established itself as an unmissable event for all artists and inspiration. Author Richard Hardie’s workshop to help young writers
A free workshop will be conducted by Richard Hardie the author from Hampshire. The sessions for the workshop will be held on 29th October at the Chandler’s Ford Library, Oakmount Road, coinciding with the school half-term holidays. The author writes novels based on the Temporal Detective Agency. He is aiming to inspire, at the workshop next moth, young aspiring writers. Lets Write a Book and So You Want to be an Author, are the titles of the sessions to be hosted.
Children of ages between 10 and 12 years will be on the book writing class. It starts form 10:30AM and goes on till midday. Teenagers aged between 12 and 14 years will be on the author workshop which is from 2:00PM until 3:30PM. Although they are free workshops, booking is necessary. Free entry to join the fun nun run
Burnley ParkRun is a weekly run for 5km. But this time Burnley Light Opera Society is inviting people to a fun nun run. They have to dress up as nuns, whether males or females. The nun run will be in fancy dress and to be held at Townley Park,on 26th September (Saturday). The run starts at 9:00AM from the top of The Avenue. The 5km run has no time limit and participants can either run or walk.
This fun run is in conjunction with Burnley Light Opera Society which will be performing ‘Sister Act’, the musical comedy. Nuns who run get entered to a prize draw which is a chance to win 2 free tickets to the ‘Sister Act’. It is being staged from 14th to 21st November at Burnley Mechanics.
