Artwave in Lewes is a free visual arts festival supported by the district council, which is now going on from 22nd August, running for 2 weeks. This vibrant artist’s open house festival one of the biggest, being held in East Sussex, will be attracting over 300 different artists and makers of various art. More than a hundred artist’s venues will open their doors, to different studios, galleries, gardens and homes and also to other venues, open to the public visiting over the 2 weeks.
Entry is all free to the visitors, who will be able to relish the variety of works in a mix of mediums, such as, sculpture, paintings, print-making, textiles, ceramics and jewellery. Visitors get to meet artists, watch demonstrations, discover or view interesting art, take part in events and even treat themselves to refreshments, during the free festival. Leader of Lewes District Council, councillor Rob Blacknam, said Artwave is growing from strength to strength with 4 rural and 2 town trials now, which help visitors discover different parts of the district.
