August 22nd, 2015 by Sandy

The Omskirk MotorFest is expected to bring in thousands of people to Omskirk town centre and Coronation park on 30th August, Sunday. It promises to be a fantastic event and one of the biggest free family days out. Over 350 cars and motorcycles will be on display, chosen from all eras of motoring. Eye-catchers include a 1978 Williams Formula 1 car and a Tatuus Formula Renault car. Also on show will be Hot Rods, Ferraris and Porches. The Concours d’Elegance competition here will see some of the top vehicles taking part. Supported by the West Lancashire Borough Council, it is organised by the Aintree Circuit club and the show starts from around 10:30 am, running until about 5:00pm. Parade laps will take place between 2:30pm and 4:30pm.

At midday, drivers from the Under-17 Motor Club North West, of all ages, will be showing their skills at the Park Pool car park in the Autosolo Challenge. Other attractions for the whole family include a vintage and handmade fair to be held at Omskirk Bus Station car park and the Chapel Gallery. Street entertainment include Charlie Chaplin and other fund games. The Skelmersdale Brass Band will be performing from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the free event. This year is also the 60th anniversary of the first British Grand Prix, which was won by the first British car, a model Vanwell, driven by Stirling Moss who won the home Grand Prix.
