A new bike event is on King’s Lynn calendar, to be launched on 9th August which is the Mods & Rockers. The Scooter and Motorbike Meet will be held from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The free event is sure to create a buzz in the historic market town as riders of scooters and bikes start descending on the Tuesday Market Place in Lynn.
On display, alongside Vespas and Lambrettas, will be Harley Davidson and Triumph motocycles. The event will see the selection of Best Custom Bike, Best British Bike, Best Scooter, Best Motorbike and People’s Choice. Spectators and exhibitors will judge the machines on the show for the awards. People can use simulators here to clock up their best track times for fun. It wouldn’t be just the bikes of the era but organisers will be selecting the Best Dressed Mod and Rocker also. The event will also have Mind the Gap rock ‘n’ roll band, The Exons and The Yesterdays, to make it an interesting festival.
The West Norfolk Borough Council has organised the event, following the success of King’s Lynn Classic Car Day. Grant Varnham of Bikesure said they were delighted to support the event. Bikesure, the specialist insurance broker, caters for scooters and bikes of all kinds, including for heavily modified vehicles. Exhibitors have to pre-book for a place at the show at the site- westnorfolk.gov.org/bikeshow. This show is just one of the free events being organised this year by the council.
