London will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on 25th July, Saturday, in Trafalgar Square. The event marks the end of the fast of Ramadan, the month-long fast observed by Muslims all over the world. The festival starts depending on the sighting of the new moon, which is expected around 17th July in UK. Trafalgar Square will witness a giant multi-sensory celebration put on by the Mayor of London.
There will also be a number of free activities for children, such as henna, face-painting and calligraphy and also other performances. There will be Qu’ran recitation and also call to prayer. There will be market stalls, souks, celebrity guest appearances and music performances. Food-stalls will charge for the food, though. Find here cuisine of Arabic, Lebanese, Egyptian, Turkish, Indonesian, Malaysian and South Asian origin, amongst many others.
This is a completely free festival and all are welcome to the celebration in Trafalgar Square. The venue is easily accessible by bus and by train from the Charing Cross tube station, which is nearest to Trafalgar Square.
