Free events at 10th anniversary of Unicorn Theatre building
The tenth anniversary of the current building of Unicorn Theatre in London will be marked by a host of free performances, workshops and tours at the venue, which falls on 1st December. Ahead of the anniversary, the theatre will be opening to host a number of free events. During the 29th and 30th August (Bank Holiday weekend) the theatre will host free events like circus classes and the new show ‘Breaking the Ice’ by Filskit Theatre Co. Architect Keith Williams will conduct a guided tour of the 10-year old building on 19th September. The theatre has also started searching for children who share the 1st December “birthday” of the building, to bring these 10 year-olds to attend a special anniversary show- ‘Baddies: the musical’, a new performance by Unicorn. The free events would be really a treat to the people. The Unicorn Theatre was originally formed as a touring theatre in 1947 and based previously at London’s Arts Theatre.
An ambassador for the Unicorn, Jude Law, says he continues to bring his children to the theatre, which he sees as going from strength to strength, as would we watch our children grow. Purni Morell, artistic director, said the children’s theatre has come a long way over the last decade in UK and the theatre challenges the perception of people on theatre aimed at youngsters.
