Belfast is all set to host its Maritime Festival. This is the 3rd time that Belfast is hosting the Tall Ship Race and ships from around the world have started arriving for the four days of festivities. Previous to Tall Ships Racing 2015, races were held in 1991 and 2019. The races will see more than 50 vessels, that also includes 18A Class ships, all competing. The first leg of the race is from Portrush to Aalesund Norway to be held on 6th July, Monday. Half a million people are expected to watch the vessels arriving and leaving along the coastlines. It had attracted large crowds last time.
The surrounding areas will host the festivities and many free events, including continental markets, bars, family entertainment, tours and workshops. There’s something for all ages here. There’s free entry to some ships that are open to the public, on a first-come, first-served bases. Opening times will vary from each vessel to vessel. The HMS Northumberland of the Royal Navy will also be part of the festival. The Titanic Maritime Festival will accompany the event opening on 2nd July. There will be lots of events like live music, markets, displays, a Viking Village, Red Arrow display, hot-air ballooning and fireworks display.
