Free tickets to Mozart’s Don Giovanni on big screen at Wharf Green

June 28th, 2015 by Sandy

The Royal Opera House’s current production of the flamboyant and rakish opera of Mozart, Don Giovanni, will be screened live on the Big Screen. Everyone is invited to enjoy the al fresco opera to be screened on 3rd July, Friday, from 6:30pm at the Wharf Green in Swindon. Everyone can bring in their own picnic to enjoy the event in the town centre.

The opera screened here will be under the guidance of producer Kasper Holten, whose interpretation of the opera will focus on the creative power of imagination. A story of the famous Italian, Don Giovanni is an amorous adventure story, spun around his successful seductions by weaving wonderful illusions, in his vain attempt to escape his own morality. It is a ghostly tale with a moral message, with lots of witty exchanges and comedy. There is touch of farce, especially in the complex relationship between Don Giovanni and Leporello, his long suffering servant. The opera was first performed under the title of Il Dissoluto Punito (or The Rake Punished), conducted by Mozart himself in Prague in 1787. It has ever since, over the years, been beguiling audiences, whether first timers or staunch opera fans. You can get free tickets by registering by sending an email to- tickets@inswindon.com.
