Microsoft to launch free workshops and newspaper

June 20th, 2015 by Sandy

The Microsoft Lumia team has conceived a new newspaper, The Five to Nine, to be launched very soon. This new newspaper containing positive and inspiring content will be distributed from 22nd to 26th June, along with a free workshop to be held each of these days. The publication developed by Microsoft Lumia, in partnership with the editorial teams, like of Protein and Grafik, will have only positive and uplifting content. Each issue will feature content from online publications and print media, covering 5 themes, including sport, music, design and fashion.

The newspaper will break away from the conventional format and host contributions from life hacks, social platforms and collaborator networks. Others who wish to contribute can submit by using the hashtag #AchieveMore. The editorial team will partner with Microsoft Lumia to host, with each day’s edition, a free workshop. The workshops are open to the public, help them to listen to industry professionals and learn new creative skills. They will be held at the Protein Studios in east London. The Five To Nine newspaper, totalling 10,000 copies, will be distributed to commuters in London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Manchester and Birmingham.

Microsoft opted to create the free workshops and the newspaper, after Red Dot Research Company’s findings suggested that people get less time to do things they have a passion for, as they work longer hours. They also found 58% of users of smartphones for work, don’t use its full potential. Microsoft wants to encourage people to come out of office, get creative and wants to show how technology enables people to work more efficiently and smarter.
