Free film festival at Hyde Park this summer

Movie fans this summer are in for a great treat in London, as Barclaycard has announced a week of activities. Barclaycard Presents British Summer Time Hyde Park also has a free Film Festival in association with SNOG.

The screenings are completely free of charge, but secure your spot on a first come, first served basis at Hyde Park. There will be 5 themed nights, showing chick films, musicals, classic films and 80s blockbusters with screenings on 19, 22, 23, 24 and 25 June. The free film festival will start off on 19th June with the screening of Pride, the British movie and the classic Wizard of Oz. In the days following, films to be shown include Mamma Mia, Casablanca, Ghostbusters, Spinal Tap and Bridesmaid.

The festival will also be hosting an international food market, the Barclaycard Better View platform, theatre and trapeze lessons. For details about the free festival this summer at Hyde Park go to website- bst-hydepark.com.

 

Free events at Buckingham Fringe Week

The Buckingham Fringe Week, organises and funded by Buckingham Town council, has free events during the annual community event, starting on 16th June, Saturday, and running up to 20th June, Sunday. Residents of Buckingham and visitors from surrounding areas can enjoy dance, drama, comedy, music, fantastic food, guided ghostly walks and workshops during the event.

The event will kick-off outside of the Old Gaol, where the New Orleans Four will play jazz music, from 10:00am to Noon, on 13th June, Saturday. While inside Old Goal, there will be a free family workshop with a professional artist, on creating a banner on the theme ‘The Twits’, for Roald Dahl Festival at Aylesbury in July. On 14th June, Sunday, the comedian Shappi Khorsandi will perform between 8pm and 10pm, at the Old Town Hall. A ghostly walk will be led fron 7:00 to 8:45pm, by Ed Gimsdale, outside Old Gaol, on 15th June, Monday.

Keith Templeton Quartet will perform at the Villiers Hotel from 1 to 4pm and the Oxford Fiddle Group will play from 8 to 10pm at the Radcliffe Centre, both on 16th June, Tuesday. Buckingham School will host a production involving dance, drama and music on 17th June Wednesday. Enjoy at the Radcliffe Centre, from 8 to 10pm, Flamenco guitar on 19th June, Friday. On 20th June, Saturday, Colin Saunders will organise a free music event- The Beat Goes On, from Noon to 11:00pm, in memory of late Tom Dewhurst, at the community centre. Spalding Library event offers free picture books

The UK charity, Book Trust, will be holding its National Bookstart Week, which is from 8 June, Monday, to 14 June, Sunday. The Lincolnshire Bookstart team marks this annual celebratiuon with a line up of special events. The events are free of charge. Various venues across the county will be hosting various events that feature craft activities, stories, songs and rhymes and also the chance to meet Bookstart Bear. The event at Spalding Library, in Lincolnshire, is being hosted on Tuesday (9 June) from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. This year the theme Jungle Adventures is based on the picture-book ‘Rumble in the Jungle’, by Giles Andreae. Every family attending an event will be gifted the picture-book as a free book.
