The free musical extravaganza Falmouth Blues returns this month, to be held at Falmouth’s Event Square, with a stellar line-up of blue bands in the South West. The show falls on the last weekend of May, on 29 May, Friday, on 30 May, Saturday and on 31 May, Sunday. Two years back it was presented in Turor by The Wander Inn. Now it is taking up residence in Falmouth, Cornwall.
On 29 May, headlining the show would be the great Otis Redding III, son of the legendary soul singer Otis Redding Jr. He has inherited his father’s musical gift. He has been for the last 21 years, not only performing and touring with his band The Reddings, but song writing and arranging too. On 30 May, Saturday, Thomas Ford of Plymouth and the Die Hards will perform on stage. Thomas is a guitar picker, a blues shouter and a harmonica player, mixing nu-blue song-writing with delta blues tradition. On 31 May, Sunday, Vince Lee will perform with The Big Combo. He is a guitar virtuoso performing their style of West Coast, roots music, rhythm and blues. Free entry is on Saturday and Sunday, from 10.30PM.
