Free event, Ormskirk Medieval Weekend, coming soon

May 8th, 2015 by Sandy

The fabulous Ormskirk Medieval Weekend, a free 2-day extravaganza at Coronation Park, will be held on 16 May, Saturday, and 17 May, Sunday. The 2-day free event will take you 900 years back to the Medieval England, to experience what life was like in West Lancashire and discover the sights, smells, tastes and sounds of mediaeval ages. On both days, from 11am to 4pm, the park will come live with entertainment, enjoyable by people of all ages, with some fantastic displays. The wonderful free event is sure to draw thousands to Coronation Park in West Lancashire, as did a similar event last year.

The 12th century re-enactment by the Historia Normanis group will transport you to a different age. They will battle in combat displays and hold a tournament too. Visitors can try out archery, the armour and look closely at the weapons. There will be medieval cooking demos, a fashion show of dresses of the times and medieval crafts displayed. A Medieval Court will dispense justice and punishment. Medieval themed wares will be sold by many stalls here. Hog Roast, a popular medieval meal, will be offered to visitors. Staff of the Ormskirk Library will provide ‘Story-telling’ slots under a decorated gazebo. For more information on the free event and other things, visit the site-westlancs.gov.uk/eventsa
