Weston nature reserve to host free event for families
The Wessex Water is hosting a free event, a family fun day to encourage visits to the Bleadon Levels nature reserve, a reserve opened on the outskirts of Weston. The free event is open to everyone on 10th April, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. The reserve is situated off Accommodation Road. Those visiting can find out the history of the reserve, discover the wildlife and the plants inhabiting the reserve and take part in a range of activities. There’s opportunity to make bird-boxes at the education centre and to follow an Easter trail across the reserve.
The Bleadon Levels reserve has been improved and expanded to give visitors better opportunities to see an array of birds as well as native creatures of British wildlife, such as voles and otters. The 27-hectare spread of the land accommodates wild fowl lagoons, tidal creek and salt marshes. The reserve was set up after a multi-million pound investment in 1999 to make it eco-friendly. Mark Doughty, Principal ecologist at Wessex Water, said the open day lets the public know what the reserve offers and are hoping to appeal to families and birdwatchers and many other people.
Free Chelmsford sessions to celebrate 16th anniversary of BMF
British Military Fitness (BMF) celebrates its 16th anniversary this April. A bootcamp is celebrating this with free Saturday sessions this month. Those looking for fitness will find the free sessions at Admirals Park in Chelmsford, on Saturdays at 9:30am, throughout April. BMF’s expert instructors are welcoming newcomers and beginners to their free sessions.
BMF held its first free class in 1999 at the Hyde Park in London. Today, its bootcamps are found in over 150 parks throughout the United Kingdom. Thousands, from fitness freaks, exercise rookies to fitness veterans, benefit from the effective group training and serious fun. Founder and Managing Director of BMF, Harry Sowerby hoped that both newcomers and familiar faces will take the first step and come to the park, to join in celebrating this milestone. Once here, they’ll do the hard work and motivate to achieve results, he added. For more details on the free sessions and information visit the website- britishmilitaryfitness.com.
