Free one-day courses are being provided to bike riders who ride motorbikes to commute to work or use them during their work and to those who ride for leisure.
Thanks to Bath and North East Somerset Council, collaborating with the West England Partnership, the training course Commuter & Rural Motorcycle Rider-Awareness is being recommended. It will help riders be aware of the dangers on road and could save their life. The courses are running till the end of March next year and are proving to be popular.
The free course is suitable for riders of all levels of experience or abilities. It will provide them essential theory and comprehensive practical training and aims to increase awareness of potential dangers that heavy traffic can cause. The Commuter Cousre is aimed at riders who use motorcycles to commute to work. The Rural Motorcycle Course is for riders who ride for leisure generally and focuses on negotiating corners, blind spots, country lanes and tricky bends on roads.
The cabinet member for transport is Caroline Roberts, the Liberal Democrat councillor of Newbridge, who urged everyone riding motorbikes, living or working in the area, to take advantage of these free courses offered. These courses ensure safety of motorbike riders and give them the skills to anticipate and react safely to dangers on road, the councillor recommended.
