The community organisation, Rural Action Yorkshire, is offering free training by experts, on dealing with emergencies and tackling extreme weather, at an event taking place on 26th February (Thursday), at the Victoria Hall, Settle, North Yorkshire, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM.
The event is a meeting titled ‘Keep Calm and focus on Community Resilience’, that has representatives from the police, fire and ambulance services taking part, giving guidance on how to support neighbours during severe weather in winter and on protecting homes. Various topics are being covered including winter weather, fuel poverty and helping of vulnerable persons who could be having health/wellness issues, or at the risk of loneliness or isolation.
Martha Homes, who is event organiser, said the group has as its priority support to rural areas facing public cuts. Such training will help make sure people are empowered to face emergency situations, she added. Contact Rural Action Yorkshire to book a place, at the free event, by calling on 0845-3130270.
