Free entry to Huntingdon racecourse on Family Fun Day

Huntingdon racecourse will be offering free entry, as part of an initiative supported by Racing UK, on its Community Family Fun Day, which will be held on 1st March, Sunday. This family fixture that falls on St. David’s Day, historically has attracted up to 2,000 spectators. The racecourse hopes to bring in thousands more this year. There free event will also have face painting, bouncy castles, behind-the-scene tours and a treasure hunt, along with the horse racing on the day.

General Manager of Huntingdon Racecourse, Nadia Gollings, said this is a racing venue primarily, but also part of the community. They are happy to give free entry to people, as a way of thanking local people for their support and also offer a day out at the races free of charge for them, especially for those who haven’t been racing. Registration closes on 23rd February, Monday, for the 8,000 capacity racecourse for the free event.

 

Free workshop by florist for Valentine’s Day

A florist in Sedgefield is offering a free workshop on flower arrangement. The florist is encouraging men in particular to express their creativity on this Valentine’s Day, by arranging a romantic bouquet on their own. The free workshop on floral arrangement is being conducted by Adam Frest, a florist who is from Sedgefield in County Durham. It will be held on the 14th February, Saturday, between 10:00am and 5:00pm. The workshop will help people create their own floral arrangement for their Valentine and the event will be open to all at RE, the upcycling shop, situated in Corbridge, Northumberland. Adam Prest said that for a man to make a bouquet for his wife, lover, or partner would be such a romantic gesture, also encouraging them to experiment creatively with colours and textures. Free events at glass exhibition

The Experience Barnsley museum, The Town Hall, Lancaster Gate, Barnsley, has an exhibition on glass going on till 15th March with lots of free events for visitors coming in. Visitors to the Our Glass exhibition can experience real glass acts by creating on their own artworks. The staff there will help any person interested to ‘Draw on glass’ by showing them works in the museum collection, to choose one to draw. They can sketch directly on the glass case. The artwork will be photographed and added to the glass drawing gallery at the museum. There will be other free events, family activities, talks and so on, to celebrate the industry which is important to the region.
