Free taster sessions by Basingstoke Bullets roller derby side

January 26th, 2015 by Sandy

The Whitchurch-based roller derby team, Basingstoke Bullets, are offering free taster session- ‘Fresh Meat’, open to those willing to join the sports team. The roller derby side is appealing for mew members as part of their New Year recruitment drive, as they prepare to host their first game in 2015 in Andover, Hampshire.

Andover Sports Centre will host the bout between the all-woman team of Bullets and a mixed team of players from the area. The team trains at Whitchurch’s Testbourne Community School, every week. They had a successful time in roller derby league last season, but lost many members for various reasons. The side hopes to recover with the new recruitment. Lucy Starbuck-Braidley, social media secretary, said roller derby is fun and for those who like challenges, but anyone can join regardless of skating experience, as they give good trainers to coach.
