The Wynnstay Group which is into farm and pet supplies, has revealed their plans to offer free micro-chipping sessions of dogs for another term. This is before the compulsory micro-chipping becomes law to be enforced, starting this March (2015). The free round of micro-chipping events for dogs will be done across its stores found over Shropshire and North Wales.
In the previous round, over a thousand dogs were micro-chipped. Sian Probert of the Wynnstay Group said this means that any of these 1,000 dogs, if lost or stolen, can be found or retrieved to be reunited with their owners. Although a quick and painless method, many owners don’t do this procedure to protect their pet animal, and many are unaware of the change in law, he added. It has been estimated that some 110,000 stray dogs had to be dealt with between the April of 2013 and April of 2014, by the local authorities in UK. Of these, 16,443 were micro-chipped dogs and of which 10,084 animals were reunited with their owners. Sian Probert said the best form of identification is micro-chipping.
Dates in March 2015 and locations of the stores for free micro-chipping are as follows: On 4th March – Llanfair Caereinion, Pensarn; on 5th March, Welshpool; on 6th March, Gaerwen; on 10th March, Aberystwyth; on 11th March, Llanidloes; on 12th March, Oswestry; on 13th March, Ruthin; on 18th March, Newtown; on 20th March, Llansantffraid; on 21st March, St Asaph; on 24th March, Rhoshirwaun; on 25th March, Rhosfawr; on 26th March, Penygroes; on 27th March, Llanfachraeth.
