A free event to be hosted at Exeter, Devon, is expected to be the biggest carol service in UK. Everybody in the city is invited to the Exeter Carol Service to be held at St. James Park, on 8th December, Monday, from 7:00PM to 8:00PM. The city’s football stadium will be transformed into a hub of singing and merriment. The city centre is illuminated by lights and the cathedral green hosts a winter market. Free mince pies will be given at the Exeter Carol Service. This year it is in a bid to create the biggest carol service in the country.
The free event is being hosted by the University of Exeter, Evangelical Christian Union. Lindsay Brown a Welsh evangelist of international fame will speak here. Singing at the event are the children of the Newtown Primary School and also a performance from 2 a-cappella choirs. The carol service first held on the university campus in 2001, has attracted last year 3,500 people to St. James Park. The carol service over the past 11 years has rapidly grown both in size and stature, becoming a calendar event for students and residents of Exeter. Organisers hope this year the free event will attract 4,000 people, to make it possibly the largest carol service in the South West and hopefully of the UK.
