A government scheme promoting the take-up of family mediation is coming into effect soon. So, more free sessions of family mediation will be available next month across Devon. More people separating and divorcing will be eligible for a free session.
Beginning from 3rd November, government will be providing the fund for both parties involved, for a single session of family mediation, even though only one party is qualified to get legal aid. Welcoming the move is the the largest provider of family mediation in England & Wales. The provider based in Exeter, sees this as an important step to show the value of mediation to couples presently undergoing breakup. But knowing little about family mediation.
Chief Executive Jane Robey of National Family Mediation, pointed out that very few of those experiencing separation have an idea of how family mediation really helps to settle matters. The government scheme of free sessions, gives many people a platform to take the first step to family mediation and show what it can achieve, she added. She also said to bring the people with open minds to the mediation room is a very big challenge. Legal aid is available for family mediation.
