A new community heritage project is offering free sessions to research the history of Lincolnshire at the Lincolnshire Archives, situated on St. Rumbold Street. The archives store a huge wealth of information pertaining to the rich history of Lincolnshire, plus a wide range of record collection from across the county. The free sessions also comes with a behind-the-scenes tour of the stores and a research session focused on Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with each one on a differed topic.
The Family History Session is on 20th October, Monday, between 10am & 12 noon. To research your family history, the session will provide various guides on the records and resources. A session will mark the centenary of the First World War, that’s to be held on 5th November, Wednesday, between 10am and 12 noon. Records relating to the First World War and Lincolnshire Regiment will be available. A session on Church History will be on 9th February (Monday), 2015, between 10am and 12 noon, that will provide church records and resources to find about local churches. Various other resources like maps, published books/articles on villages, school records, parish records, census returns, etc. are held in the collection of Lincolnshire Archives.
